Where to Find Safety and Protection from Plagues

 

 

For safety and protection, some people head to the mountains or some fortified place. Personally, when trouble comes, there is only one address to which I run. That is Psalm 91. Here, I find divine assurance of safety and protection from evil, plagues, accidents, destruction.

However, the promises in this psalm are conditional on the first two verses.

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” (Ps 91:1-2, NKJV)

So, three things are key for safety and protection:

1. Where you Dwell
2. What you Declare
3. On Whom you Depend

Dwell

God preserves, provides for, and protects those who dwell in the secret place.

What is the secret place? Your heart. It is the private place where you and God commune, spirit to Spirit. Grow in intimacy with God through heart-to-heart exchanges, sharing, and spontaneous, unreserved communication.

If you sit down, dwell, and live in communion with God, you will permanently live in divine safety and protection.

Declare

Say this to the Lord:

“My shelter, my mighty fortress, my God, I place all my trust in You.”

Do Not Fear

“Fear nothing—not wild wolves in the night, not flying arrows in the day, not disease that prowls through the darkness, not disaster that erupts at high noon.” (Prov 91:5-6, MSG)

Destined for Safety and Protection

“Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most-High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling. For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways” (Ps 91:9-11, NKJV)

Always Trust the Lord

“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.” (Ps 20:7, NKJV)
