Four Keys to Pray with Confidence

Four Keys to Pray with Confidence

Pray with Confidence

Do you pray with confidence? If not, discover four keys to how you can.

People sometimes ask me to pray for them, which I am honored to do. However, it occurred to me that sometimes people don’t pray for themselves as they should because they:

  • think God hears some believers more than others,
  • do not know their rights and privileges in Christ,
  • do not know how to ask God to meet their needs.

These are simply roadblocks that need to be removed. The fact is that every believer can pray with confidence. Here is how.

Understand You Have Right-Standing with God

To pray with confidence, first understand that all who believe, receive, and confess Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord have right standing with God.

“God made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” ~ 2 Cor 5:21, MEV

When you welcomed Christ into your heart, God credited Christ’s righteousness to you and pronounced you righteous. This means that your standing with God is unchanging. You are as righteous today as ever – a truth that brings enduring comfort and security.

However, your lifestyle must comport with your position of right standing. You can’t live in sin and expect to pray with confidence. If there is any unconfessed sin in your life, eliminate it. 1 John 1:9 promises: “If we confess our sins, He [God] is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

So, when you realize you have a right-standing with God and live right, you will pray with confidence.

Know Your Birthright to Pray with Confidence

Over the years, I have taught and written books on prayer to help believers develop an intimate prayer life and pray with confidence. In High Call to Pray, I wrote an entire chapter defining prayer.

Today, I keep it simple so you can grasp the profound truth without feeling overwhelmed.

In one sentence, here is a life-changing truth to vivify your prayer life:

If you are a Christ believer, your new birthright is God’s ear and His favor!

“For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers….”  ~ 1 Pet 3:12

Accept God’s Gracious Invitation to Come to Him

God invites every believer to come to Him, with sincerity, frankness, assurance, and pray with confidence.

“Let us, therefore, come boldly to the throne of grace that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” ~ Heb 4:16

Ask in Faith, Believing You Receive

“Therefore, I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” ~ Mk 11:24

Takeaways:

  1. In Christ, you have a position of right standing with God.
  2. Your new birth right is God’s ear and His favor.
  3. God has invited you to come confidently to His throne of grace.
  4. Ask in faith, believing you receive.
