This morning, I realized anew how much God loves me, hears me when I pray, and answers my prayers, as the Scripture says:
“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.” (1 John 5:14-15)
Answers at the Right Time
Many times, I receive answers the same day. Recently, I asked the Lord to help me respond to lengthy, difficult discovery requests for a client. Four hours later, the Holy Spirit helped me fully refute the plaintiff’s allegations against our client.
Of course, not all answers come immediately. By observing God at work in one’s life, I believe answers manifest at the right time. What is the right time? When we receive the greatest benefit and the Lord receives the greatest glory – both for our growth in grace and in knowing Him.
The Scriptures say:
-
- The Lord waits to be more gracious.
“Therefore, the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you; And He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; Blessed are all those who wait for Him.” (Isaiah 30:9, NKJV)
-
- I wait and trust.
“I will wait for the Lord to help me. I trust him completely. So, I wait for him to do what he has promised.” (Psalm 130:5 EASY)
The Answer in Stages
Sometimes answers come in stages. In November 2025, I asked the Lord to help me lose the weight I had gained from too much sitting and too little exercise. Since then, I have lost a ton of weight without using any diet aids. I haven’t stepped on the scales, but I can wear almost everything in my closet, including clothes two to three sizes smaller.
Also, a few months ago, I asked the Lord to help me correct sluggish digestion and elimination. Part of the answer came when the Spirit led me to look up the ingredients in Extra gum. The second ingredient was a plastic that does not dissolve. Wow! I had chewed a pack of gum every week for years. No wonder I had difficulty digesting.
Now, I eat food as close to its natural state as possible and only small amounts when I’m hungry. I also seldom eat out unless it’s at a stellar, healthy food-oriented restaurant. No more nuked egg bites from Starbucks.
A Path to Healing
While you may face different physical challenges, a path to healing is available.
First, believe that Christ is your Savior and Healer. He paid the price for our sins and diseases, enabling us to walk in health and wholeness.
“He was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5)
Second, ask the Lord to tell you what you need to do to achieve optimal health. Write it down and follow through.
Finally, don’t expect overnight changes. Through faith (trust in God) and patience (cheerful endurance), you will inherit the promises (Hebrews 6:12). And remember, God is always on time!
