How to Renew Your Mind Every Day
by Capazin Thornton
Want to develop and keep a positive attitude? Renew your mind every day and hold your thoughts up to God’s checklist.
How to Renew Your Mind
How do you renew your mind? Read, study, recite, and listen to God’s Word.
God’s Word is spiritual food. It will sustain and strengthen you. The more you retain and apply God’s Word to your life, the stronger you will become.
Line up thoughts to God’s checklist
Philippians 4:8 provides a checklist for right thinking and right speaking:
Thought Checklist | ||
True | accurate, genuine [not half-truths or hearsay]
Noble | honorable, befitting kings and queens
Just | right | |
Pure | clean, clear | |
Lovely | delightful | |
A good report | pleasant | |
virtuous | excellent, having great moral value
Praiseworthy | worthy of praise, thoughts that glorify God
Remember, this is a checklist. Go through the whole list to see if what you think about and say pass all eight.
Think about God’s goodness, love, and grace
“Think about His love
Think about His goodness
Think about His grace that’s brought us through
For as high as the heavens above
So great is the measure of our Father’s love
Great is the measure of our Father’s love.” — Don Moen
What a simple yet powerful song. It focuses on God’s goodness, love, and grace—things that are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of a good report, virtuous, and praiseworthy. We can renew our minds using this song!
Expect a change
Renew your mind every day on God’s Word. Concentrate on things that pass God’s thought checklist.
You will notice positive changes in your life. You will have greater focus, clarity and soundness of mind.
