Batteries provide portable, convenient sources of energy for powering devices without wires or cables.

The other day I went to my car and for the second time in a few days, the battery was dead. My car is only four years old, so I felt the factory battery had pretty much run its course.

I called the Automobile Club. They sent out a technician who tested the battery, alternator, and wiring. The battery was only producing about 25% electricity. So I decided to have the technician replace it. The whole job took about five minutes.

Through this experience, I learned a bit more about batteries. And, I finally paid enough attention to know how to connect the battery charger cables to the battery.  I’m a girly girl at heart, so this was huge for me!

Batteries and their chargers are truly wonderful. They provide portable sources of power so that we can work with less clutter, globe trot, and simply have fun with our many gadgets.

4 Ways to Recharge Your Spiritual Batteries

In order for us to function at optimum, we need to be fully charged up on the inside. Dealing everyday with people who have all kinds of personalities, idiosyncrasies, and angst can be draining. Personally, I try not to go out the door until I am spiritually ready…for anything!

Here is what I do to recharge my spiritual batteries.

  1. Pray in the Spirit

I pray in the Spirit often. What does it mean to pray in the Spirit? First, it means to pray led and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Second, it means to pray out of one’s spirit versus praying out of one’s mind or intellect. Third, it means to pray in languages of the spirit.

Praying in the Spirit will edify, build up, and charge up your inner man. You will find ample strength, inner resolve, joy, love, peace, and patience to face whatever may come your way.

  1. Confidently Declare God’s Provision, Protective, and Preservation

I start talking to the Lord and declaring the Word before I get out of bed. God’s Word is alive, active, and energizing. With it, I can talk myself into feeling great and doing great things.

Instead of, “Oh, God, it’s morning.” I say, “Thank You, Lord, for your angel protecting me through the night. Thank you for your angel going before me today and keeping me safe from hurt, harm or calamity.”

Thanksgiving changes and charges the atmosphere around you. And it will invigorate, strengthen, and encourage you.

  1. Praise the Lord

I sing praise songs in bed, in the shower, in the car. I notice that when I say, “Praise the Lord,” things light up around me. My spiritual batteries are recharged and I am alert and energized.

  1. Rest

Try to get adequate rest every day. Take a 30 minute nap during the day. Get adequate sleep at night. Don’t overwork. If you can, take a mini vacation (3 to 4 days) every few months.

Car batteries can come to life again after a period of rest. Certainly we can experience fresh energy, enthusiasm, and flow of creative ideas after adequate rest.

Keeping our spiritual batteries charged will help us live a blessed life and bless others.
