What steps can we take every day to make spiritual progress, gain spiritual momentum, and be catapulted into a new realm of glory? Here are three.

Make Spiritual Progress—Pray for God to flood your spirit with light

Recently the Lord told me that one of the most important prayers a believer can pray for himself or herself is found in Ephesians 1:17-21. Specifically the Lord said every believer should pray for his or her inner man to be flooded with light (v. 18).

Light means illumination. God wants our inner man illuminated—flooded with light, so we can know (“see”) Him and know truth from His perspective.

God wants us to realize the future He has called us to share with Him. He wants us to know the magnificence and splendor of the inheritance He has in us, and we in Him.

God wants us to know the tremendous miracle-working power that is available to us who believe. If you’re a Christ believer, the same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead dwells in you. He will enliven your body—head to toe! (Rom 8:11) God wants you to prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers. (3 Jn 1:2)

God says the sharing of our faith will become powerfully active and effective when we acknowledge the wealth of good things in us by Christ Jesus. (Philemon 1:6) We make spiritual progress as we walk in the awesome brilliant light and absolute truth that is in Christ Jesus.

Make Spiritual Progress—Develop a Lifestyle of Worship

Worship is a lifestyle. Start each day by making a present of yourself to the Lord. Enter His presence with thanksgiving and triumphant singing. Praise Him all day long. (Rom 12:1; Ps 100:2; Heb 13:15)

Wherever you go, realize that you are the mobile temple of God. Let the glorious light in you shine out to others.

Make Spiritual Progress—Bring to Life the Fire Again

2 Timothy 1:6 says stir up the gift of God in you. The Greek word is anazopureo, comprised of ana (again), zoe (life) and pur (fire). It means to bring to life the fire again. Be passionate about the Lord and His purpose for your life.

If you will do these things each day, you will gain spiritual momentum and make spiritual progress.
