How to Make the Right Really Important Decisions

Have you ever been wrong about something really important? A job change, a move, a business venture, the person you married?
As humans, we make mistakes in our decisions and actions. And, stuff will happen to interfere with our good intentions and desired outcome.
While driving the other day, I had a few thoughts that can help all of us with decision making.
How to Make the Right Really Important Decisions
- Pay attention.
Sometimes we do not pay attention to things that are really important. For instance, I see people sending text messages while driving. Surely they are playing Russian roulette with their life and the lives of others.
This is very important: Do not send and receive text messages while driving!
- Don’t ignore warning signs.
I see people speed through yellow lights. A yellow light is a caution light. It is a warning to slow down and prepare to stop.
If we speed up to get through a yellow light, we are asking for trouble. Don’t ignore warning signs.
- Don’t be blasé.
When there are three left-hand turn lanes, I try to avoid the middle. The vehicles on the right and left seem to always turn a bit into the middle lane. Drivers like these are too blasé for me.
Naturally and spiritually, don’t be blasé.
- Choose life.
I see a lot of people run red lights. People who run red lights are courting disaster. Running a red light can end in sudden death.
Make the Most Important Decision
Making the wrong decision in all of the above instances can end in death. So, here is my bottom line question. If you were to die today, do you know where you will spend eternity?
Hell was prepared for the devil and his angels who hate God. People who die serving the devil will share his fate—a horrible eternity without God.
John Piper says, “People wind up in hell because while on earth, they exchanged the love of Christ for something—money, sex, power, happiness—they thought would be more valuable.”
Heaven is the place God has prepared for those who love Him. The only way into Heaven is through Jesus Christ.
When you receive Christ into your heart, you receive forgiveness of sins, eternal life and you can have a more abundant life here and now.
If you reject God’s gift of life through His Son, then you are saying you want no part of God. Not now, not ever.
Friends, you cannot change the wrong decisions of the past. But, today, you can choose Christ. This will be the most right decision you will ever make.
