Is anything too hard for the LORD?
If you were asked, is anything too hard for the LORD, what would you say?
Abram was 75 when he left his native land to follow God. God promised to bless Abram, make his name great, make a great nation from his seed, and bless all the families of the earth through his seed. (Gen 12:1-3)
Ten years later, when Abram was 86, his wife Sarai gave her maid Hagar as a surrogate to Abram to bear his child. Hagar bore Ishmael. (Gen 16)
Then, when Abram was 99, the Lord appeared to him and said, “I AM ALMIGHTY GOD. Walk before Me and be blameless. And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.” (Gen 17:1-2)
Here, God promised to be a God to Abraham and his descendants forever. And, He changed Abram’s name to Abraham – from high father to father of a multitude, and Sarai’s to Sarah—from my princess to princess. (Gen 17:4-9, 15)
All God required was that Abraham and his descendants be circumcised as a sign they were God’s covenant people. So, at 99, Abraham circumcised all the males in his household. And God promised that He would establish His covenant with Isaac, whom Sarah would bear in the coming year. (Gen 17:10-22)
The LORD asks, Is anything too hard for the LORD?
Later, while sitting at the entrance of his tent near the great trees of Mamre at Hebron in the heat of the day, Abraham saw three men approaching. Abraham ran out to greet them. It was the LORD and two angels. Abraham invited them to stay and dine with him. After dinner, they sat under the tree. (Gen 18:1-8)
Then the LORD said, “I will certainly return to you according to the time of life, and behold Sarah your wife shall have a son.” (Gen 18:10)
Sarah, listening inside the tent, laughed within herself and said, “after I am old and my husband is old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?” (Gen 18:11-12)
And the LORD said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh, saying, ‘Shall I surely bear a child, since I am old?’ IS ANYTHING TOO HARD FOR THE LORD? I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son” (Gen. 18:13-14).
Previously, Abraham laughed with joy at the prospect of having a son with Sarah. But Sarah laughed in unbelief. At 90, she did not believe it was possible to conceive and bear a son.
Unbelief is when God promises you something amazing, but you stop believing because you cannot figure out if, how, or when God will do it.
Keys to experiencing God’s promises
These keys will help anyone have faith like Abraham.
- Trust the Promise Maker and Keeper
God is credible and faithful. He can’t lie. He has magnified His Word above all His name! And His Word is FOREVER established in Heaven. Most certainly, if God said it, you can count on it! (Heb 6:18; Ps 138:2; Ps 119:89)
God is able. Yahweh is Almighty God forever. He quickens the dead and calls those things which are not as though they were. (Rom 4:17) Is there anything too hard for the LORD to do or undo?
- Contrary to natural hope, in hope believe
When all hope in the natural realm is gone, keep holding onto the divine Word of God. Because nothing is too hard for the LORD.
- Do not waver at the promise of God through unbelief
To waver is to go back and forth between two opinions. It is like having two minds. A double-minded person is unstable in all his ways—as one adrift at sea. (Jas 1:8)
Do not waver. Cast down every thought, word, or report that contradicts God’s Word. Hold fast to God’s promise. Is anything too hard for the LORD?
- Give glory to God
Giving glory to God in everything will keep you strong in faith.

No matter what you are going through, God is so much greater! No matter how long you have waited, keep waiting in faith. Nothing is too hard for the LORD!

This was so from the heart of God. I could feel it in my spirit!! So many are looking for large changes in there lives and “hope deferred makes heart sick” but we must trust the Lord not what we see!!
Thank you so much for this timely word!!!
Janice, I try to keep my blogs short. I actually wrote about twice as much as I posted. The main point is to hold onto God’s promise no matter what. God didn’t say it would be easy. But, He is faithful to make all things beautiful in His time.
