INTEGRITY
By Capazin Thornton
If there’s one thing we need in America, it is integrity. Especially from leaders! We don’t need more leaders with law degrees. We need more leaders with high degrees of moral rectitude.
What is Integrity and Why is it Important?
“The supreme quality for leadership is unquestionably integrity. Without it, no real success is possible, no matter whether it is on a section gang, a football field, in an army, or in an office.”—Dwight D. Eisenhower
A person with integrity is honest, morally upright, forthright, and honorable.
The opposite personality is dishonest, deceitful, double-dealing, and dishonorable.
Proverbs 10:9 says, “He who walks with integrity walks securely, but he who perverts his ways will become known.”
Lack of Character can be seen
We have seen people who aspire to hold the highest public office in our nation look right into our faces and out-and-out lie. Over and over again! We have seen them dodge questions that call for a simple yes or no answer.
While we cannot know what is in another’s heart, we can tell a lot about a person caught lying. Or, when we hear their whispered two-faced conversations caught on tape.
Lack of integrity means something is broken, missing, or amiss in one’s life. Its root is deception. Its fruit is inconsistency, instability, wrong decisions, and unethical actions.
History is full of such leaders. Disgrace brought to their family, posterity, state and nation because they lacked good core values.
Transparency can be seen
A principled person will be the same behind closed doors as in public. Transparent! Authentic!

Be true to your word. Stand up for what is right, just and fair. And, by no means vote for any leader who clearly lacks the supreme quality for leadership.
