How to Stay on Track Spiritually
By Capazin Thornton
It is important to know how to stay on track spiritually in these difficult times, because too many people are going off track.
The prophets said it would be like this in the last days. But, while some may fall away, child of God, I am confident you will not. We are too close to the finish line to flake out now. So, let’s look at a few points to help us all stay on track spiritually.
How to Stay on Track Spiritually
To stay on track spiritually: Rely on the Holy Spirit.
By the way, NEWS FLASH—the internet is not your teacher. The Holy Spirit is.
Overall, I like the internet. It’s great for getting up-to-the minute news and lightning fast research. It is nice to visit good websites, view incredible photographs and videos, download music, book travel arrangements, connect with people anywhere in the world and, if one can afford it, shop online at any store in the world.
Yet, despite so many good things, the internet is full of dark, demonically inspired seduction.
“Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times, some will depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons.”—1 Tim 4:1
Seducing spirits are literally “roving (as a tramp or whore)” through cyberspace looking to lure the undiscerning away from truth into a dark labyrinth of lies, deception, and perversion.
We must stay rooted and grounded in truth and separate the precious from the vile. God gave believers the Holy Spirit—the eternal Spirit of Truth—to live in us and lead us into all truth. The Holy Spirit will teach us everything we need to know and He will always glorify Jesus. (John 16:13, John 15:26, 1 John 2:20, 1 John 2:27)
Personally Study God’s Word.
While I like some of the online Bible study sites, I am wearied by many of the commentaries. I don’t know about you, but I want the Word, not an opinion piece about the Word. So:
“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”—2 Tim 2:15
To stay on track spiritually: Guard your mind.
Can’t say this enough: Guard your mind. Your mind is the arena where every spiritual battle is fought. You cannot win the battle if you don’t guard and defend your mind.
Personally, I won’t watch programs that promote ungodly lifestyles, no matter who is starring in them. I refuse to give perverse spirits access to my life.
Grow in grace and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Believers are saved (past, present and future) by God’s grace. We have access to God’s grace by faith. And we live by faith through God’s grace. Grace is multiplied to us through knowing Christ and who we are, what we have, and what we can do in, by and through Him. (John 1:17; 2 Pet 3:18; Eph 2:8; Rom 1:17)
To stay on track spiritually: Stay in Church.
Every believer needs the corporate worship, prophetic revelation, vision, teaching, preaching, inspiration, training, oversight, fellowship, sharing of faith, time, talent and treasures found in a God honoring, Bible believing, Holy Spirit led and anointed, New Testament local church. To stay on track spiritually, stay in church.
