How to Close Gaps Between Undesirable and Desired

A gap is a distance between two points. In the natural, men build bridges to close gaps between buildings, over oceans, mountain passes, etc. so people can cross over from one place to another.

In the spiritual sense, a gap is the distance between current circumstances and how things can be according to God’s Word.

Many people are in a rut. Fear stalks them. And many politicians (who have guaranteed salaries, and tremendous perks) do not seem to care about the lives or livelihood of average people.

So, if things are going to change, God’s people are going to have to pray.  Every believer has this honor and privilege. [Rev. 19:6; 1 Pet 2:9]

Intercessors Close Gaps

In Ezekiel’s time, there was no faithful priest who would stand before a righteous God on behalf of a rebellious people. God said:

So, I sought for a man among them who would make a wall and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.” ~Ezekiel 22:30

Walls have always been built around cities to protect the people within from enemies without. As in the natural realm, so in the spiritual. Christians who pray effectively build spiritual walls of protection around the people for whom they pray. They close gaps through God-inspired words.

So, let us come before the Lord and pray for our nation and its people.

A Prayer to Close Gaps

Thank you, Lord, that your lovingkindness and tender mercies are over all your works. Your steadfast love never ceases. Great is your faithfulness!

Father, forgive the sins of your people. We are sorry for grieving your heart. You have been good to us. Please forgive us and heal our nation.

Lord, we ask you to send the Holy Spirit to woo people to yourself. Send your truth and light. We declare people are turning from the power of evil to God.

May all those who desire this nation’s destruction be uncovered. Expose their secret plans and strategies. We decree that no weapon formed against the U.S. shall succeed.

We ask that you draw leaders to yourself. Teach them to implement justice and equity for everyone. Help them be good stewards over all you have entrusted to them.

Father, we pray that you will keep us on your path of peace and liberty. Cause righteousness and praise to spring up from our nation before all nations. We declare Your Word will have free course and glorify you throughout the world.

Lord, help us face these challenging times with faith, integrity, and courage. May the glory of the Lord arise over this nation. We ask these things in the matchless Name of Jesus. Amen.
