You have heard the expression, “Desperate times call for desperate measures.” This is meant to say that extreme circumstances can only be resolved by resorting to equally extreme actions.

The word desperate originally meant: to despair, to be without hope, lost beyond hope of recovery, irretrievable, irrecoverable.

Desperate also means extreme, reckless or dangerous because of despair, hopelessness, or urgency. Sometimes people who see no way out of their situation do extreme, reckless and dangerous things.

However, desperate times do not call for extreme, reckless or dangerous measures. They call for God solutions and strategies!

Hope for the Desperate

The good news is that so long as you are alive, there is hope for you. You can come out of your seemingly irrecoverable situation smelling like a rose.

Turning Point: Hope in Christ

First, turn from your way to God’s way:

“If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart a person believes and is made righteous, and with the mouth he confesses and is saved.” (Rom 10:9-10)

When you receive Jesus Christ as your Savior, significant changes take place in your life.

  1. God forgives all your sins.
  2. Your inner man (spirit) is instantly regenerated.
  3. You have eternal life.
  4. You are united with Christ—the resurrected and ascended Lord of Heaven and earth.
  5. You are already blessed with all spiritual blessings.
  6. You have access to God and Heaven’s boundless resources.
  7. You can reign victoriously in life in, by and through Christ.

Find Scriptures That Answer Your Need

You will need to read and study the Bible (the Word of God) to discover God’s amazing promises and answers to every human need. Declare God’s promises. This will help you become established in truth and learn how to live in victory every day.

Twist and Shout

Most importantly, bind yourself together with the LORD like a tightly twisted rope in trust and dependency. In Him you will find new strength, vision, provision, and continual hope for the future!
