FIVE STEPS TO CHANGE THE COURSE OF YOUR LIFE
For some people, their lives speak ongoing drama. Could it be that their own words trap them in a set of unfavorable circumstances?
You can change the course of your life by controlling your tongue.
Just as a rudder controls the course or direction of a ship, one’s tongue (the words one speaks) controls the route of one’s life. (Jas 3:3-5)
You will eat the produce of your lips
Words are agents of authority. They will authorize the operation of good or evil, life or death, blessing or cursing. (Prov 18:21)
Words should be agents of positive, life-enhancing communication.
Positive words create an atmosphere of peace and harmony and bring health and healing. They will spark creative energy and ideas and promote teamwork.
Think twice before you speak once.
Don’t we owe it to ourselves to think twice before we speak? “So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath” (Jas 1:19).
5 Steps to Change the Course of Your Life
- Put away all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, malice, and evil speaking. (Eph 4:31)
- Do not allow any corrupt (rotten, worthless) communication to come out of your mouth. (Eph 4:29a)
- Fill your heart with God’s Word and let God’s Word rule your thoughts, words, and actions.
- Speak only good, which edifies and which ministers grace and blessings to the hearers. (Eph 4:29b)
- Let your mouth be an instrument of praise to God.
Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You. Thus, I will bless You while I live. — Ps 63:3
Change the course of your life. Replace negative words with life-giving words and watch your circumstances turn around!
