The Christ

The true meaning of Christmas is CHRIST.

The wonder of Christmas is GOD WAS MANIFEST IN THE FLESH.

Christ the Eternal Word Became Flesh

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.” —Jn 1:1-4

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” —Jn 1:14

The Scriptures Reveal

  1. The invisible Godhead eternally exists in three persons—God the Father, God the Son (called the Word), and God the Holy Spirit. “For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.” (1 Jn 5:7)
  2. Christ the Eternal Word created all things. All created things came into being by and through Him and are upheld by the word of His power. (Jn 1:3; Heb 1:3)
  3. Christ the Light came into the world to bring true light to every person. The life of God is in Him. The life in Him is the light to humanity. The life that is in Him cannot be extinguished by darkness.
  4. Christ came into the world He created. However, the world did not recognize Him. The world treated Him like a stranger. He came to His own people. They did not receive or welcome Him. (Jn 1:10-11)
  5. The good news is that to as many as receive Him, Christ gives the right and privilege to become a child of God. (Jn 1:12)

Over 2000 years ago God stepped out of eternity into the time-space-mass universe He created to become human. Miraculously incarnated, born of the Virgin Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ is the complete package—perfectly divine and a perfectly sinless human, all in one. He is the fullness of the Godhead bodily. (Col 2:9) How Wonderful! How Marvelous!

Jesus Christ, the ultimate revelation of God

Christ is the ultimate revelation of God. He came:

  • To show us what the invisible God is like. He came to show us God the Father. (Jn 1:14; Jn 14:8-9)
  • To set us free from the works of the devil. (1Jn 3:8)
  • To express the love of God. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (Jn 3:16)
  • To suffer and die for our sins. (Rom 3:23; Acts 10:43; Eph 1:7)
  • So that through Him we can have right-standing with God. (Rom 3:22)
  • So that through Him we can have eternal life. (Jn 11:25)
  • So that through Him we can reign victoriously in this life. (Rom 5:17)

Christ is the glory of God revealed

Grace and Truth find their full expression in Christ. He is the image of the invisible God. Now we have a clear picture of what God is like. Christ is the brightness, radiance, splendor, magnificence, majesty, excellence, truth, purity, glory and weightiness of God revealed. Look at Him and behold the true living God. (See Jn 1:18; Heb 1:3; Col 1:15; Jn 14:9.)

Christ is the One

While Dolce & Gabbana may have a winning fragrance commercial, Dolce & Gabbana is not the One. Christ, the Son of the Living God is the One. He is the true meaning of Christmas. He is God’s gift to humanity. He is available to whosoever will receive Him.

If you haven’t received Him previously, will you receive Him now? Please feel free to post your comments.

    1. Wow! I love it! There it is – simple, in a neat, easy to hold onto package. As we walk with Him (the Father, the son/Word and the Holy Spirit), we understand a little more each day, and we are loved and blessed beyond belief. Surrender yourself to Him so He can bless others through you and in so doing, you will be blessed and energized by His spirit to no end. Praise God!

      1. Vicki, so appreciate that you take the time to read the blogs and to thoughtfully respond. I think this one provoked the preach in you. We are all richly blessed when we allow God to use our gifts to bless others, when we don’t hold back anything that can cause others to profit.

    2. What a wonderful and articulate description of the greatest gift of all. Jesus truly is the personification and the manifestation of God’s unconditional love. Your words truly drive home, the reason for the season. Great article!
