12 Ways to Maintain Good Health

12 Ways to Maintain Good Health

maintain good health

To maintain good health, we must be wise, prudent, and vigilant over our spirit, soul, and body. Here are 12 ways to maintain good health that touch upon all three.

Eat Nutrient Dense-Food

To maintain good health, eat fresh, whole foods.

Devitalized, enzyme-destroying processed foods weaken the immune system.

Fresh leafy green vegetables, herbs, fruit, raw nuts and seeds (almonds, walnuts, pistachios, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds), and wild seafood are some nutrient-dense foods that nourish a body.

Drink Clean Water

We are blessed in this nation to have clean water choices. Unfortunately, too many people drink water from plastic bottles. On more than a few occasions, I have seen plastic bottles of water stacked outside stores exposed to the sun. Such exposure releases toxins from the plastic into the water.

An alternative might be ZeroWater, a tap water filtering system that promises to remove virtually all dissolved solids and deliver the purest tasting water. Or, if you can, buy spring water bottled in glass.

Maintain Good Health by Resting

To rest is to cease work or movement to relax, refresh oneself, or recover strength.

Don’t work around the clock. God wants us to cease work at least one day each week. And get enough sleep and rest each day, so your body has adequate time to repair.

Spiritually, do not worry about one thing. Always trust God and rest in His great and precious promises.

Get Some Fresh Air and Exercise

If you commute to and from work and work all day in an air-conditioned office, you need some fresh air. Go for a short walk during breaks. Get as much outdoor activity as you can. Stretch, dance, walk. Swim. Jog or run, if you can. A little aerobic exercise is better than none.

Digest Healthy Portions of God’s Word Every Day

God’s Words are life to those who find them and health to all their flesh (Prov. 4:20-22).  Eat, digest, enjoy and do the Word in the power, love, and grace of God’s Spirit.

Control Your Thought Life

The greatest destroyer of good health is negative thinking. Take authority over your thoughts. Immediately cast down any ideas that contradict God’s Word. Allow God’s Word to dominate your mind.  Think about things according to Philippians 4:8: right, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous, and praiseworthy.

Speak Life-Enhancing Words

Words are agents of communication and carry great authority. Learn how to break the power of negative words. Only speak kind and gracious words that transmit peace, edify, comfort, and encourage.

Praise the Lord

Praise the Lord from the sun’s rising to its going down. (Ps 113:3) Don’t say the Lord’s name casually or disrespectfully. Lift and glorify the Lord, and it will lift your spirit.

Give Thanks

“It is good to give thanks to the LORD, and to sing praises to Your Name, O Most High; to declare Your loving-kindness in the morning, and Your faithfulness every night.” (Ps 92:1-2) Do you have a safe house, food, clothing? Thank God!

Keep Joy and Gladness of Heart

The joy of the Lord is your strength (Neh 8:10). Always rejoice in God’s goodness and faithfulness to His Word. God is good all the time. All the time, God is good.

Forgive

To forgive means to let go, lay aside, pardon, release. Let go of wrongs done to you or debts owed to you. Let go of offenses. Release the offender.

Walk in Love

God’s love is unconditional, lavish, tenacious, immeasurable, perpetual. This is the essence of God. Imitate Him. Show and share His love.

Are you taking steps to make this your best year ever to maintain good health
