Perseverance

Quitting is easy. To persevere and win requires that you stay focused, motivated, and full of inner strength. Here are a few points to help you.

5 Keys to Persevere and Win

  1. Believe you are already a winner.

Decide you are already a winner. Because you are! And winning is what you do!

  1. Realize seasons come and go.

To everything there is a season. (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8)

I grew up in Iowa where winters were severe. Sub-zero temperatures, snow, and ice. Yet, most days we walked to school. We stayed warm with ear muffs, scarves, coats, snow pants, and boots.

Year after year, we made it through winter seasons full of challenges: flu, colds, whooping cough, frost bite, falling on ice, and occasionally a frozen car battery.

My favorite thing about winter was tasty, slow-cooked food and home-made cookies. And, after a fresh snow fall, we usually had snow ice cream for dessert.

A winter season naturally or spiritually can be difficult. But, by the grace of God, we get through it. And, then, spring and summer always come! (Gen 8:22)

  1. Keep moving forward.

When times are tough, your soul (mind, will, emotions) naturally wants to quit or retreat to a place of comfort.

You might be launching a business with very little capital. You may be starting a church with four people and a boom box.

Listen. You began in faith. Keep moving forward. Persevere and win.

  1. Welcome tests of faith with joy.

“Consider it pure joy, my brethren, whenever you face trials of many kinds. Because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.”—Jas 1:2-4, NIV

God’s Word tells us to have joy in and through troubles. (James 2:1-4; Rom 5:3-4) We can rejoice because Christ is our victory. And, God has given us His Word, His Spirit, and all the grace we need to get through any trouble!

  1. Walk by faith, not by sight.

Circumstances will rise up, jump up and down in your face, stick their tongue out at you, and declare that you are defeated.

On the other hand, God’s powerful living eternal Word will give you God’s winning perspective on everything. God’s Word will enable you to rise up, face, and conquer any challenge.

So, walk by faith in God and His Word. Be persistent. Persevere and win.
