Did you know 2020-2029 is the “decade of the mouth“? It is a unique season for light and truth bearers to maximize the words we speak.
Let me explain what I mean when I refer to the decade. Our Western calendar years 2020-2029 correspond to Hebrew years 5780-5789. Our 2024 is the Hebrew year 5784.
Briefly, the Hebrew language is unique in many ways. For one, it has no separate number system. Instead, each alphabet letter has a pictural meaning and a numeric value.
For instance, Aleph is the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet. Its meanings include ox, bull, strength, what is first, and Adonai. And its numeric value is “1.”
The Hebrew calendar counts the years since creation based on tracking genealogies and how long people lived. On the other hand, our Western calendar essentially divides time before and after Christ (B.C. and A.D.)
So, the Hebrew letter Pe or Peh means mouth, opening, entrance, to command, speak, or open. And its numeric value is 80. Thus, we arrive at the decade of the 80s – Hebrew years 5780-5789 – the decade of the mouth.
Spiritual Attacks Intensified, and Darkness Increased in 2020
It is no accident that in 2020, evil forces devised strategies to shut the mouths of the righteous. In 2020, you were likely wearing a mask in public spaces. Sadly, many still wear masks three years later despite no proof they slow the spread of viruses.
While many worked from home, our freedom of speech was severely attacked, especially in public digital spaces. Social media platforms use algorithms to censor, limit our audience, and dissuade us from posting comments contrary to mainstream narrative.
Friends, darkness is everywhere. Censorship is merely a tool that the fearful use to keep out the light in the decade of the mouth.
The good news is:
- Light can extinguish darkness, but darkness can never extinguish light. (John 1:5)
- Christ believers, you are the light of the world. (Mt 5:14-16)
- You can stand up in the Spirit and take authority over all illegitimate rule of the prince of darkness.
Decade of the Mouth for Light and Truth
Speaking of light, let us consider exquisite aspects of the number “4” in 2024.
- On the fourth day of creation, God created the sun, moon, and stars to be lights in the firmament of the heavens. They give light to the earth and are for signs and seasons. (Gen 1:14-17)
- Four living creatures are around God’s throne. They praise God, day and night saying, “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come.” (Rev 4:6-7)
So, in the Hebrew alphabet, the fourth letter is daleth (also the number four), which means a door. Doors provide opportunities to move in or out of situations. 2024 is the year for open doors.
First, the Lord says, “Look! I have set in front of you an open door that no one can shut” (Rev. 3:8). Through Christ, we can access God’s throne of grace and Heaven’s resources anytime. “For all the promises of God in Christ are Yes and Amen to the glory of God” (2 Cor. 1:20).
Second, look for open doors that ignite joy in your heart. And you shall go out with joy and be led forth by peace.
Third, shut the door to anything that tries to put you in a box, control, or limit you. How? By casting down what people say and speaking what God says. In this decade of the mouth, maximize what God says.
Don’t complain or speak evil. Instead, use your mouth to:
- Passionately praise God!
- Bless people!
- Create a positive atmosphere!
- Speak life!
- Plant the good seed of God’s Word wherever possible!
God’s life and light are released when we proclaim God’s Word. And God’s holy angels listen to the voice of His Word and minister for the heirs of salvation. (Ps 103:20; Heb 1:14)
You were born for this time – the end of the age and Christ’s soon return. Rejoice and be glad. It doesn’t get any better than this!
