Have you read The Revelation?
by Capazin Thornton
Did you know you can read and understand The Revelation?
Listen, I am not a prophecy teacher – though I often teach prophetically. However, I have read and studied the book many times. So, I decided to write a simple overview for newbies. Here goes.
Jesus Christ is the center of The Revelation
“The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants things which must shortly take place, and He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John.” ~ Rev 1:1
First, here is the focus:
It is the REVELATION, unveiling, or disclosure OF JESUS CHRIST!
GOD the FATHER gave this amazing disclosure to Christ to show to His servants.
Jesus gave it to His angel.
The angel gave it to the apostle John.
John wrote it down and sent it to seven churches.
The manuscripts were copied, translated, and passed down to us.
So, the book reveals (unveils) Jesus Christ as He is, was, and shall be. He is glorious in majesty and dazzling beauty throughout eternity.
And God promises a blessing to every reader and hearer of The Revelation.
The blessing to hearers and readers
“Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the Word of this prophecy, and keep those things written in it, for the time is near.” ~ Rev. 1:3
Read means to know again [repetition]
Hear is to listen attentively to heed and obey.
Keep means to watch, guard, keep an eye upon, to guard against loss.
So, as you read this wonderful book, keep these points in mind.
10 key points of The Revelation
1. |
The Revelation of Things Past, Present, and FutureThe Lord told John: “Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after this” (Rev 1:19).
[*See 1 Thess 4:16-18] |

Parallel Accounts – in Heaven and on EarthParallel accounts of events in Heaven and earth are woven around Jesus Christ—the Lamb of God who died for the sins of the world, the sovereign Lord over all. (E.g., Ch 4, 5, 8-Heaven; Ch 11, 16-tribulation /wrath of God poured out on earth; activities in Heaven while tribulation on earth, Ch 19) |

3. |
The Dragon, the Antichrist, and the False ProphetThe Revelation exposes the devil of old (the Dragon), who persecutes the woman (Jewish people) who gave birth to the male child (Jesus). Together, the Dragon, the Antichrist (beast from the sea), and the False Prophet (beast from the earth) build a one-world political, economic, and religious system and rule the world during the last 3-1/2 years of this age (the Great Tribulation). The Antichrist forces people to receive his mark to buy and sell. He kills those who do not receive the mark. Those who receive the mark of the beast are eternally doomed. (Rev 12-13) |

4. |
The 144,000 Jewish EvangelistsGod seals 144,000 Jewish evangelists who preach Christ to the world during the Great Tribulation. (Rev 7, 14) |
||||||
5. |
God’s Wrath and Why?God pours out His wrath on the earth. It is because of rebellion against God. And rejection of Jesus Christ, God’s Son -Co-Creator, Savior, and Rightful Ruler of the world. |
||||||
6. |
The Lord Returns and Defeats World’s ArmiesThe Revelation details the Lord’s return to earth. He comes with the armies of heaven. He will defeat the Antichrist and the kings of the earth. They have assembled to make war against the Lord (the Battle of Armageddon). (Rev 16:14, 16; 17:14; 19:11-21) |
||||||
7. |
The Lord Reigns 1,000 Years on EarthThe Lord sets up a 1,000-year reign on the earth. An angel of God binds the devil and throws him into the bottomless pit. After the Lord’s 1,000-year reign on earth, an angel releases the devil briefly to deceive the nations. At the end of the Lord’s reign, the devil leads Earth’s final rebellion. Fire comes down from heaven and devours the last rebels against God. After that, an angel throws the devil into the lake of fire, where he will be forever. (Rev 20:1-10) |
||||||
8. |
The Great White Throne Judgment for SinnersThe Revelation discloses that God will revive everyone who died without Christ to face judgment. God will judge them for their sins and self-righteousness because they rejected the Savior Christ Jesus. (Rev 20:11-15) |
||||||
9. |
A New Heaven and New EarthGod creates a new Heaven and a new Earth. He welcomes those who love Him. They will live with Him forever in glory. (Rev 21-22) |
||||||
10. |
God Gives You a Choice NowThe Revelation concludes with an invitation. God invites those living in darkness to come quickly to Christ, the light of life. (Rev. 22:17) God lets us choose our destiny. Will you receive Christ and live forever with Him? Or will you reject him and spend eternity with the devil tormented in the lake of fire? |
