Freedom of Thought and Speech are Inherent Rights
Inherent rights supersede decrees of mere men. When does anyone have the right to tell you what to think or say, or when to sing?
Free thought and free speech are your God-given inherent rights. And, as I wrote in Freedom is God’s Idea and Your Inalienable Right, America’s founding documents agree with God. And, so do state constitutions.
Federal and state oaths of office to protect inherent rights
Every federal government official takes an oath of office to preserve, protect, and defend the U.S. Constitution. Every state official takes an oath to support the U.S. Constitution and their state Constitution.
In California, the oath is to support, defend, and bear allegiance to the U.S. Constitution and the Constitution of the State of California against all foreign and domestic enemies. The affiant also swears:
I will not advocate nor become a member of any party or organization, political or otherwise, that advocates the overthrow of the Government of the United States or of the State of California by force or violence or other unlawful means.
Um. So, I ask you:
- Is there a party or organization that advocates the overthrow of the United States government by force or violence or other unlawful means?
- Which party is trying to overthrow your God-given inherent rights and freedoms outlined in the U.S. Constitution?
Know Federal and state officials by their fruit
Many federal, state, and local government officials do not give a hoot about your God-given inherent rights and freedoms. They have broken their oath to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution. They have become complicit in lawlessness and violence.
The good news is: we can know people by their fruit – what they produce (Mt 7:16). So, what life-enhancing things have your federal, state, and local officials done for you?
This is the Hebrew year of an open mouth
Did you know we are in the Hebrew year 5780 (September 30, 2019 – September 18, 2020)? Here is the significance:
The Hebrew year is now 80. Eight life and protection. Eighty is the letter Pei, shown as a mouth, an open mouth that can speak. We should be talking about life from now on.
Stand up and speak out
Government officials want you to sit down and shut up. But this is not the time to sit down and shut up. As Peter, the apostle, wrote: “We ought to obey God rather than men” (Acts 5:29).
So, stand up and speak out what the Spirit is saying.
One nation under God is still a noble goal
There will not be a perfect government until the Lord returns to set up his earthly kingdom. Until then, one nation under God with liberty and justice for all is the noblest goal for any society. It is the best foundation for building the future.
